Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a popular form of psychotherapy that is now widely used by life coaches, counsellors and mental health professionals to help with depression, anxiety, and a wide range of other behavioural problems. It basically focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviour, and teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems.

The course here would discuss primary foundational ideas and the history of Cognitive Psychology and Behavioural psychology for better understanding and then proceed to advance learning and practical approaches to CBT.

This course is deemed to be significant for both, those wishing to learn Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for self-help, and for those wishing to learn CBT for therapy and counselling as well by providing an in-depth insight for personal and professional development.

Students with at least 1 paper in psychology at their bachelor’s or master’s degree program.

The mental state examination is an important part of the clinical assessment in which we observe and describe the patient's current state of mind especially behavioural and cognitive functioning in a structured way. Students will be taught with Components of MSE & Format and tabulation of MSE.

  • Case History Taking/ Clinical Interview Skills

A Case study is one of the major steps of Psychological Treatment and intervention. The case study is an in-depth study and the right technique helps us to understand our client's problems and also helps in making a suitable intervention plan for the same. So, in this internship, you will learn the right skills and strategies to perform an effective case study.

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavior Therapy is a widely used psychotherapeutic approach that helps individuals identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. This section of the course will introduce students to the core concepts of CBT, focusing on cognitive conceptualization and treatment. Participants will learn to recognize negative thoughts and emotions that contribute to psychological distress. Additionally, the course will cover the structure and planning of the first therapy session, giving students practical tools to initiate therapeutic interventions effectively.

  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)

REBT is a form of cognitive-behavioural therapy that emphasizes the role of irrational beliefs in emotional and behavioural disturbances. Students will receive an introduction to REBT's foundational concepts, focusing on its unique ABC(DE) technique, which helps individuals identify and challenge irrational beliefs. By learning REBT, participants will acquire practical skills to guide clients toward healthier and more rational thinking patterns, improving their emotional well-being.

  • Practical CBT based tools and techniques to use with clients, in your personal life, career or relationships.
  • Practical application of CBT in any professional helping career (counselling, pastoring, parenting, managing etc.).
  • How to plan a session with your client and how to identify the key thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviours to work on.
  • How the mind processes day-to-day experiences and transforms your interpretation of them into emotions, fears, passions, actions and ultimately, outcomes.
  • Establish healthy professional boundaries with your clients and create an environment that helps them to tackle faulty thinking styles.
  • How to facilitate the positive transformation of how people think, feel and behave when pursuing their goals or objectives in life.
  • Useful framework for structuring your sessions with others.
  • How to become more self-aware of (and improve) the way that you communicate, alongside the psychology behind these communication styles, relaxation and mindfulness
