The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level exam that assesses the comprehensive understanding of engineering, technology, science, and humanities for the purpose of admission to post-graduate level subjects in the participating institutions.
Qualifying in GATE is useful for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to master’s programs and direct doctoral programs in engineering, technology, humanities, and architecture. Every year a different participating institute holds the responsibility to conduct the GATE exam on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. They conduct the GATE as a computer-based test (CBT) annually in February, and the score remains valid for three (3) years from the date of announcing the results.
The participating institutions for GATE are the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Roorkee). The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, will organize GATE 2024.

Eligibility criteria of the Exam
Candidates who have completed their bachelor’s degree or currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Architecture/ Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2024.
GATE Psychology Examination pattern:
The duration of the exam will be 3 hours
The GATE Psychology Exam consists of 2 sections as given below:
General Aptitude (GA): 15 marks.
Section B1(Reasoning and Comprehension): 25 marks.
Psychology Paper(C5): 60 marks
Total: 100 Marks (General Aptitude + Reasoning and Comprehension + Psychology Paper)
Questions will carry 1 mark and 2 marks and there will be negative marking for wrong answers 1/3 of the question carries 1 mark and 2/3 of questions carries 2 marks.
