Admissions Open for Ph.D. Clinical Psychology at NIMHANS

NIMHANS is inviting applications for the admission to Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from eligible candidates. Applicants, who are eligible for the program can now apply for the same at NIMHANS. The entrance test for session 2 will only take place at the NIMHANS campus in Bengaluru city.

About NIMHANS

IMHANS is a world-renowned institute for mental health, neurosciences, and allied fields located in Bengaluru. It unites research and training in both Mental Health and Neurosciences. NIMHANS is an “Institute of National Importance”. It is a ‘Deemed University’ from 1994 by the government for its eminent academic growth and contributions. The Institute subsequently established a formal affiliation with the University of Mysore for all its academic programs. Afterward, the Institute entered into a formal partnership with Bangalore University in 1964. Bangalore University established a separate faculty of Mental Health and Neurosciences.

Eligibility Criteria at NIMHANS

The eligibility criteria for the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at NIMHANS are as follows:

M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology OR M.Phil. in Mental Health and Social Psychology

OR

2 years Master’s Degree in Applied Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Counselling Psychology / Psychological Counselling / Psychology

Application Procedure

Applicants should submit the application to the Dean & Controller of Examination, NIMHANS, Hosur Road, Bengaluru-560029 with copies of all consequential documents, Application fee payment receipt and photographs in a closed cover. Applicant should also write a title on the same cover as “Application for Ph.D. in (chosen course)”.

The application form fee will be submitted through the SB collect Payment Portal from October 06, 2023 to November 05, 2023.

Age Criteria

The age limit of Ph.D. program is 40 years for the External Fellowship category and 42 years for deputed/sponsored candidates and employees of the NIMHANS. There is a relaxation of 5 years for PwD candidates.

Application fee details

The fees for application are as follows:

• General, OBC and EWS Category and Foreign National Applicants: Rs.1,500/- per course
• SC/ST Category: Rs.1,000/- per course
• PwD category candidates (40% to 70%): No Application Fee

• Last Date to Submit Hard Copies of Application Forms: November 05, 2023
• Date of Entrance Exam and Announcement of Result: November 21, 2023
• Date of Interview: November 22, 2023
• Date of Admission to Ph.D. Program: November 23, 2023
• Date of Course Commencement of Ph.D. Course: January 01, 2024

Important information:

1. If applicants are still waiting for their exam results, they can still take the entrance test. They just have to display the proof that they have cleared the exams.
2. JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) and SRF (Senior Research Fellowship) of selected candidates under “External Fellowship Category” at NIMHANS will be initiated after connecting with the Ph.D. Course.
3. Separate applications shall include all relevant attachments along with a separate fee payment challan under SB Collect (Refer general guidelines for details).
4. Candidates will get the admit card for the entrance exam on registered Email ID and the candidates have to produce a hardcopy of the same on the day of the entrance test.
5. Applications submitted in any other form (Other than hard copy) will be rejected.
6. Under any situation, any reason for delay in the application form will not be considered.
