As per the announcement from the National Testing Agency (NTA), the application forms for UGC NET December 2023 are now open and accessible. The chairperson of the University Grant Commission (Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar) has made an announcement about certain dates. Candidates, who are eligible for the UGC NET December 2023 examination should carefully review the provided instructions. Further details regarding the eligibility and Examination are as follows.
Role of National Testing Agency (NTA) in the UGC NET Exam
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given the responsibility to NTA for conducting a test called UGC-NET. UGC-NET is available in Computer-Based Test (CBT) Mode. This test determines if Indian candidates can become “Assistant Professors” or get a “Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor” job in universities and colleges.
The performance of the candidates in both Paper I and Paper II of the UGC-NET Exam determines that the candidate will receive a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/or be qualified for an Assistant Professor job. Candidates, who meet the requirements for Assistant Professor jobs must follow the hiring rules of the universities. If anyone only qualifies for the Assistant Professor post, they can’t get the JRF.
Age limit for UGC NET December 2023
There is no upper age limit is there for candidates, who aspire to apply for the UGC-NET examination to be qualified for the “Assistant Professor” position. Never the less, if candidates aspire to achieve the position of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the age of applicants from the general category must not exceed 30 years. It is noteworthy that there is a relaxation of up to 5 years in the maximum age limit for candidates who belong to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD category, third gender, and women candidates.
Application Fee
The application fee for General candidates is ₹1,150. For EWS/OBC-NCL/General-EWS candidates, it is ₹600, and for SC/ST/PwD and Third Gender Candidates, the application fee is ₹325.

Important Instructions:
- Candidates can apply for UGC-NET December 2023 via “Online Mode only” on the website https://ugcnet.nta.ac.in. NTA will not accept application forms in any other mode.
- Candidates are allowed to submit only one application each. Submitting multiple applications is strictly prohibited. NTA will take strict action against individuals who violate this rule by submitting more than one application.
- Candidates must ensure that the email address and mobile number they provide in the online application form belong to them or their parents/guardians. This is important because NTA will communicate with candidates via email to the registered email address and through SMS to the registered mobile number.
