CUET Psychology Entrance Examination 2022—UPS Education

Loading

CUET stands for The Common University Entrance Test, as per UGC guidelines CUET will now be mandatory from the academic year 2022 for all centrally funded universities (Central Universities) for admission to all undergraduate courses for approx. 1.8 lakh seats.

Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is not new but only a few central universities were participating in CUCET till 2021. But as per UGC guidelines now CUET will be the only way for Central Universities for admissions to their undergraduate courses. As per the news, apart from central universities many other state-funded universities and private universities are also interested to use the CUET scorecard for admission for various UG courses.

The National testing agency (NTA) will conduct the CUET in online CBT mode in different allotted centers across the nation. This move will be a paradigm shift from traditional university entrance exams to intensive exams targeting major undergraduate courses at more than 45 central universities nationwide.

Candidates preparing for their admission to UG courses must read the following important points:

The CUET will be divided into three stages mentioned below:
Stage-1: There will be a language test where students need to select 1 out of 13 languages as per their interest.

Stage-2: Stage 2 of CUET is Domain-specific, currently CUET offers 27 domain subjects in which interested and eligible candidates write the exam. A candidate can select up to 6 domain subjects in their application form for CUET.

Stage-3: In this stage, 3there will be a general test where questions will be on general knowledge, current affairs, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning, logical and analytical reasoning.

The Universities will decide and announce which domain-specific test a candidate has to take for which course. Also, a university can allow students for admission in their course either on the basis of scores obtained in Domain-specific tests or scores obtained in General tests.

Example: A student seeking his/her admission into BA/B.Sc Psychology course, in this case, they have to follow the instruction provided by the university first, because universities may allow admission through two different CUET exams. Let’s suppose University A may ask for subject-specific scores (Psychology in case of BA Psychology), at the same time University B can take admission in BA/B.Sc Psychology course on the General test score.

Benefits of CUET:

  • Standardize evaluation criteria
  • Eliminates the need to appear on multiple universities’ entrance exams
  • Bring inclusion and equal opportunity for the candidates from different 12th boards.
  • A fair chance for a student to correct their past mistake of 12 standard marks.

Eligibility:

The candidate should complete their 12th standard. Those who are waiting for their result can also appear but the CUET scorecard will be only valid if they fulfill the criteria. Some age relaxation for the reserved candidate is also implemented.

Syllabus:

The syllabus of the CUET will be based on the 12th class NCERT level only, the detailed syllabus will be uploaded soon.

Mode:

The NTA will conduct CUET in a Computer-based Test mode in the different centers in the country.

A list of some top central universities are as given below:

  • Jawaharlal Nehru university
  • Delhi University
  • Banaras Hindu university
  • Jamia Millia Islamia
  • Aligarh Muslim university
  • University of Hyderabad
  • University of Allahabad
  • Dr. Hari Singh Gour university

Besides the above, there are many other good central universities as well as other state universities that will now take the CUCET scorecard.

With the ever-increasing cutoffs, the best central universities (Like the university of Delhi) were out of reach for many. In addition, there was inconsistency between the examination committees in terms of curriculum and difficulty, and the students of some committees were unfairly supported. Therefore, the introduction of CUCET, which is implemented by the national testing agency. This exam provides candidates with the opportunity to enroll in various courses at central universities nationwide in a single window. The overall review for CUCET is mixed, no doubt it has many benefits but slightly it may create a sense of immense pressure among the student to fight such a massive exam conducted nationally but a positive attitude and continued preparation will make your work easier.
