The University of Delhi has announced admissions for its PhD in Psychology program for the 2024-2025 academic year, following recent changes by UGC regarding the use of NET scores for PhD admissions. This change offers candidates an easy path to pursue advanced research in Psychology.

The University of Delhi’s Psychology Department is renowned for its comprehensive research and training across multiple psychology fields.

The Major areas of Research in the Department of Psychology (DU) are Cognitive Psychology, Applied Developmental Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Clinical Psychology, Positive Psychology, Health Psychology, Environmental Psychology, and Applied Social Psychology.

Eligibility Criteria:

Based on the scores obtained in the UGC NET, applicants are categorized into three groups according to their NET qualification:

  1. Category 1: Qualified for JRF, Assistant Professor, and Ph.D. admission.
  2. Category 2: Qualified for Assistant Professor and Ph.D. admission.
  3. Category 3: Qualified for Ph.D. admission only.

Candidates who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/GATE and similar National level tests shall be eligible for admission to the PhD Programme based on an interview only.

For Categories 2 and 3, the University will give 70% weightage to NET scores and 30% weightage to the interview for admission to the PhD program.

Note: NET scores are valid for one year for PhD admission under Categories 2 and 3.

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field with 55% from a recognized university.

Note: Submission of a research proposal (1,500–2,500 words in APA format) is mandatory at the time of registration.

Application Fee:

  • SC/ST/PwBD: Rs. 300 per program
  • UR/OBC-NCL/EWS: Rs. 750 per program

Selection Process:

  • Candidates qualified in NET will be shortlisted based on NET scores and an interview. The combined merit of these will determine the final selection.

Important Dates

  • Registration Begins: November 13th, 2024
  • Registration Closes: December 04th, 2024
  • Interviews: December 06th, 2024, to January 04th, 2025
  • Recommendation of DRC and BRS: Till January 11th, 2025
  • Last Date for Payment of Fees: January 14th, 2025
