Gauhati University also known as GU is a Public University located in Guwahati, Assam. It was established on the proud occasion of Republic Day (26 January) 1984 by the provisions of the Act by the Assam Legislative Assembly. It is also the oldest university in Northeastern India. It has been graded “A” by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Gauhati University has a total of 341 affiliated colleges at present.
