The Fergusson College was established in 1885 by the Deccan Education Society and the first principal of the college was Prof. Vaman Shivram Apte who also served as a second principal till his death. The status of the university was received by the college in May 2018.

Candidates with an Undergraduate Degree (Any Stream) are eligible to apply for the same.
(Note: – Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Psychology (B.A./B.Sc. with Psychology as Honours/ Major/ Special/ Principal Subject)).
