NIMHANS Ph.D Clinical Psychology 2024-25

National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore invites applications from eligible candidates for admission to various doctorate courses including PhD in Clinical Psychology for the January 2025 session.

NIMHANS takes admission into PhD courses twice a year, called Session 1 and Session 2. Currently, applications are invited for session 2, and the course will commence in January 2025.

The applications are invited under the External Funding Category. The external Funding Category includes applicants applying with fellowships from External Funding Agencies, Foreign Nationals and permanent/tenured employees Sponsored/Deputed from various Government Institutions/Universities including candidates working on various projects at NIMHANS.

The entrance test for the January 2025 Session will be conducted at the NIMHANS Campus in Bengaluru city only.

NIMHANS Ph.D Clinical Psychology 2024-25 Session 2

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the program, candidates should have either M.Phil in Clinical Psychology, M.Phil in Mental Health and Social Psychology, or a 2-year Master’s degree in Psychology.

To apply under the External Fellowship category, it is required to have a JRF in Psychology or the candidate should be ‘Funded by Research Projects at NIMHANS’ or by any other agency.

Age limit: 40 years for External Fellowship candidates and 42 years for Sponsored/Deputed candidates and NIMHANS employees (Relaxation of 5 years for PwD candidates).

Application Fee Structure

• General, OBC, EWS, and Foreign Nationals: Rs.1,500 per course
• SC/ST category: Rs.1,000 per course
• PwBD category – 40% disability: No application fee

Entrance Exam Pattern

• The test will have 100 multiple-choice questions, with a duration of 90 minutes.
• Each correct answer obtains 1 mark, while 0.25 marks are deducted for each incorrect answer.
• The entrance test for the January 2025 Session will be conducted at the NIMHANS Campus in Bengaluru city only.
• Admit cards for the entrance test will be sent to the applicant’s registered email ID. Candidates must print and bring a hard copy of the admit card on the day of the entrance test.
