The National Testing Agency, or NTA has opened Ph.D. applications and will be conducting a common Entrance Test for Ph.D. in various subjects, including Psychology. At present, the list includes Delhi University (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) for NTA Ph.D. Entrances.
Out of these four central universities, currently DU, and BHU are offering Ph.D. in Psychology.
The NTA is responsible for registering candidates, conducting the entrance examination, declaring, posting, and inviting challenges to the answer key, and declaring the final results. The participating university may conduct their individual counseling based on the Ph.D. Entrance Test scores.
Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Applications for Psychology at DU, and BHU
The candidates who had cleared their Master’s / equivalent examination or appearing in 2023 are eligible for the Ph.D. Entrance Test. Further university-specific eligibility criteria are mentioned below-
- Delhi University
- Master’s Degree (Psychology/ Applied Psychology/ Behavioural & Cognitive Sciences/ Human Development and Family Studies) from a recognized University
- Banaras Hindu University
- Master’s degree in the concerned subject OR (ii) Master’s degree in any one of the allied subjects.

Examination Schedule
The Ph.D. Entrance Test will be conducted in two shifts for four days. The Psychology Exam will be conducted on the second shift of Day 2.
