Different cultural, social, and ecological traits define North East India. The establishment of the Tezpur Lunatic Asylum under British administration in April 1876 marked the first appearance of the discipline and profession of psychology in this area. In 1986, Gauhati University established its psychology department. Between 2009 and 2012, psychology programs were introduced at the universities in Dibrugarh, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tripura.
Master in Psychology is a 2-year program divided into 4 semesters. This course provides students with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of psychology. This program is designed for individuals who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field. Many institutions also provide Masters in Psychology to non-psychology background students. The curriculum of a Master’s in psychology program typically covers advanced topics in psychology, such as research methods, statistics, abnormal psychology, and developmental psychology.
