The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the online application process for the UGC NET December 2024 exam in 85 subjects including Psychology. Read all the necessary information regarding NET JRF December 2024 before you proceed with registration.

About the NET JRF Exam

UGC NET JRF is a nationwide accepted exam in India. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) twice a year on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The purpose of the National Eligibility Test (NET) is to determine the eligibility of a candidate for the award of “Junior Research Fellowship”, appointment as “Assistant Professor”, and ‘Admission to Ph.D. Courses in Indian universities and colleges.

Eligibility for NET JRF December 2024

  1. A Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC with 55% for General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates.
  2. Candidates pursuing their Master’s degree, appearing for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination, awaiting results, or experiencing delays in their qualifying examinations can also apply for this test.
  3. A relaxation of 5% can be provided to candidates belonging to (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/ST/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender.
  4. Candidates who have completed a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program must achieve a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade on a point scale, depending on the grading system followed.

Age Limit and Relaxation

  • JRF: Not more than 30 years as on the 01st day of the month in which the examination is concluded i.e. 01.01.2025.
  • JRF: A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL /SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and women applicants.
  • Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for an assistant professor.
  • Admission to PhD: There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC NET for admission to PhD.

Exam Pattern of UGC NET December 2024

The UGC NET December 2024 exam shall be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only. There will be two papers in the UGC NET Examination. Paper I and Paper II.

Marking Scheme in UGC NET Exam

  • Each question carries two (02) marks.
  • There is no negative marking in the examination.
  • No marking will be there for un-answered /un-attempted /marked for review.

Application Process

Candidates need to visit the official website of NTA via the link mentioned below to fill out the application form. Follow the steps to apply online.

  1. You are to register as a new user by providing your Email and Mobile Number.
  2. Once you register, you will have the application number to log in on the website. After login, you need to fill in the necessary information and upload the necessary documents including a recent photograph (file size 10KB-200KB) with 80% face (without mask) and the Candidate’s signature (size 4KB to 30KB).
